Rewarded

The buoys last night were trending up, so I figured I better get up early to see if was for real.  An early rise confirmed my suspicions and I was out the door.

The parking lot had about 4-5 cars, which was a good sign also.  Paddle out to about a half dozen others in head high glass at 6am.

The crowd was never grew past 6 or 7 all morning and the surf was more consistent than yesterday with the shorter periods coming in today.

Surfed for 3 hours straight with some waves that are stuck forever in memory....

High Surf Advisory?

"Lil' Jack"

Board of choice most days

All south facing beaches were on a high surf advisory, but I think the swell may have peaked overnight.  There were 3 sets that wiped the lineup in the 2 hours that I surfed, but it was pretty inconsistent otherwise.

I shot these pics at peak high tide which was drowning the swell.  It was much better at the lower tide early.

Harbor Time

Another shot at the southside with the new southern hemi filling in today.  Supposed to peak tomorrow and may be heading back to the barrel machine.

DSC-TX10

It may be time to go back to the point and shoots here in Hawaii.  I'm spending alot more time surfing than taking the time to shoot with the GoPro in the water.  I'm thinking that stuffing a p&s in the pocket may be the ticket to getting photo and some surf time.  This worked well in the Daily Bread beginnings.

So I took some time to check the latest options, and have tried many models of the Pentax and Olympus and now considering the Sony.  Primarily for the full resolution shots 16.2 megapixel at 10fps.  The 1080p at 60fps for the HD slowmo vids won't hurt either.  The retail price on these are about $300, it may be time for another DailyBread donation drive.

Small Kine Kutbacks

There were still some small leftovers from this last weeks swell, I shot these after I surfed.

New south on the way in a couple days, and the forecast is calling for some decent size.  It'll be time to break out the 6'8" step-up and surf a spot that I've been eye'ing since the last south.
