Jaw dropper.

Just got done editing this mornings' photos and there are a couple that I had to pick my jaw up off of the desk.  Some very nice conditions this morning.  Here's a few, and will be uploading the full gallery next.

Shot abunch early at HQ and then mozied down the peninsula, stopping at 56th and ultimatly Wedge.  Wind had turned S by the time I got there, but it was still alittle sheltered and some good looking shape.  My guess is that early was probably really good.  Shot a fair amount, and still need to go through and find some more keepers.  Check back for a possible update from earlier shots from HQ.

Got the kinks out..

After almost a week of trial and error, it appears that I've got the 'bugs' worked out of my Smugmug gallery.  I was getting some feedback that the images were too small to really view, so I took some time this morning to finally get a personalized watermark done.  Now I can open up the images to pretty large viewable photos.  I've got them set at "large" but can also go up to xxlarge if I need to.

My regular Daily Bread post will be up in abit.  In the meantime shoot over to todays' gallery..

Adam nailed it on the forecast.  Today had a couple moments, but all in all it was marginal at best.  Some juice with a small window of greatness pre sunrise, but for the most part it was everyone wishing for the SE winds to turn NE, which never happened.

Wind is looks like it's still problematic right now (8pm) with still swell in the water.

My guess is that it might be a repeat tomorrow texture wise.

It turned out to be an actual surf morning for most, surprisingly.  As I'd heard the quote from the post title atleast 4 times this morning.  I think we're in for some epic fall surf conditions this week once the wind blows through.


I've got all of the photos edited from this morning ready to upload, but smugmug is having some technical issues right now.  Once it's back online, I'll upload and announce.  If you surfed Blackies, near the pier this morning from about 8 until 11am, there's a pretty good chance I got some pictures of you.

I keep forgetting that my camera has a video record button.  Here's one that I recorded late in the session.  Maybe I'll remember to mix it up alittle and put up some more vids, if you're into it?  Also, Canon came out with a newer version of my camera....with HD video..bastages!

Clean again this morning, but alittle smaller as the NW backed down and the S still in the water.  I'm still landlocked due to ear issues, maybe in a few days I'll be back in the water.

Tomorrows' schedule

The top S-SW facing spots and the good combo breaks will be in the waist-chest high range on most of the sets…but there may be a couple of slightly bigger peaks on the lower tides…don’t hold your breath for those though.

Looking like a repeat of today as I will be back at rj's.  


If it's anything like today, it was best early before the tide got too fat, and if the weather stays the same there should be good shootin light as well.


I'll be under my red/white beach umbrella shooting all morning.  Stop by and say hey, so I can keep an eye out for you while shooting.

Learning experience...

Learned alot today about uploading large galleries to my smugmug account.  I think I have my system down on how I'm going to proceed from here forward (for a while).  Check out the rest of todays' gallery and spread the word if you know anyone in the shots that might want one.  I've decided from the feedback I got from my other posting that $10 per full file download seems to be the price point.

I shot for 4 hours this morning and now know that I need:

1. Umbrella

2. Lots of water

3. Snacks

4. Make sure not to park on the street sweeping side

Make sure and read the gallery info above the photos for purchase instructions as I have it set so you can't go through the purchase process direct through smugmug (for now).  I will enable it once I get the photos flowing.
