Back in the saddle
Finally got some clean conditions with some sun to help shooting. I forgot how much work it is to shoot while surfing. Blackies isn't the most surf/shoot friendly spot just due to how it breaks. I get my better shots when just swimming and not surfing. But I managed to click a couple and am pleased with the performance and clarity of the pics so far.
Also had the uncomfortable pleasure to surf in the presence of a humpback whale(I think) this morning during my 1st session before I headed to Blackies. Pretty good sized feller that was fishing within a stones throw of where I was surfing. Saw a coupe 1/2 body, straight up breaches that were pretty amazing. I was the only one out, so I was alittle freaked. Them suckers are pretty damn big when you're up close (and in the water).

Stitches
1st day with the new 1030 and still getting used to the new features and configurations. I'm really diggin the panorama in camera stitching. You take 3 shots and the camera blends them together in one solid photo. It looks like it'll probably be best with a tripod as you can see in some of the pics the horizons don't meet.
It appears that the layout of the options are alittle easier to get to and change when shooting, I just have to get used to accessing the functions. I did take it out with me for a surf, but the lighting and conditions didn't allow me to get any decent shots.
I was having alittle issue with water spotting, which might lend itself to just being a new camera. Maybe like a baseball mit, it just needs to get broken in with some schmultz on the glass to get the water off. I did notice that the camera lense is square as opposed to the round one on the 770, I'm wondering if that has any influence on the water hanging on to the corners on the 1030.
